FAQ

What does TaxonomyDJ do?

So you stop losing whole evenings to sorting music. TaxonomyDJ learns how you sort from a few sample folders, then sorts your whole library, with the full DJ toolkit on top: BPM, key, and Camelot detection, batch tag editing, duplicate cleanup, fake-FLAC checks, a player with EQ and spectrum, and visuals for live shows.

How do I sort music automatically?

Three steps the first time. 1. Get a few folders of music sorted your way, one folder per label. 2. Open the Training tab and click Add label (or From parent folder) to bring those folders in. 3. Let TaxonomyDJ analyze and learn. Then go to the Music Library tab, click Add music folder and choose Run full analysis: every track gets labeled automatically. Training and full analysis need Premium. More in the guide.

Is TaxonomyDJ free?

Yes. The Free plan has no time or track limits: playback, EQ, visuals, BPM, key, Camelot, audio quality checks, copying, moving, and renaming files, and finding and deleting duplicates. Creating labels, training, automatic labeling, and batch tag editing need Premium. See pricing.

Which computers does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) or Intel, running macOS 15 or later. 64-bit Windows 10/11 too.

Do I set the labels myself?

Yes, and that is the point. Your sorted folders are the labels: “Tech House”, “Deep House”, “Melodic Techno”, “Drum & Bass”… TaxonomyDJ learns the way you sort. See how it works.

Will it move or delete my files on its own?

No. Files are copied, moved, or deleted only when you ask, and bulk actions always ask for confirmation. In the Training tab, changing a track's label moves the file to the new label's folder; you can turn that off in Settings.

Do I need an internet connection?

Playback and analysis run on your computer. Both the Free and Premium plans work offline and only need to connect periodically to verify your computer; after 14 days offline, the app locks until you reconnect. Your data is kept.

Which formats are supported?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, and AIFF.
